Release NotesWhat’s new in release 1.3.4.2? · A new feature in Rotator will automatically rotate images from cameras with orientation sensors. Some newer digital cameras ( Such as Canon 10D, Digital ELPH S200, S230, S330, S400, PowerShot G3, G4, S45, S50, A300, Kodak 14n, Casio QV-5700 and others) have sensors built in to sense if a picture is taken in portrait or landscape mode and tag the image appropriately in the EXIF metadata. Unfortunately, many pieces of software ignore these tags. The rotator now can read this tag, perform a lossless rotation, and adjust the tags to the appropriate values so that you images will show up in the correct orientation in all software. · Saver can now export metadata to a Comma Separated Values (.CSV) file which you can read in any text editor or import into a spreadsheet. The .CSV file will have the same name as the associated image file, but with a .CSV extension. · The MetaDataEditor now supports several new EXIF tags. · By default DPU will now silently check for updates every few days. If you are working on a computer that is not connected to the internet, you can turn this feature off from Options/DPU Options/Online Update. While the option is off, you my still check manually from the Help/Check for newer version… menu item. What’s new in release 1.3.3.1? · This release is a minor update to provide compatibility with Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. What’s new in release 1.3.2.4? · A new “Float” checkbox allows you to turn DPU into a small window that will float over other windows while you select images to process. Once you have selected them, drag them over the small DPU window and it will automatically enlarge itself to allow you to choose an action to drop your images onto. It will then return to its small form to occupy less of your screen space. · A few bugs have been fixed including one in rotate in which, under certain circumstances, rotation was not lossless. What’s new in release 1.3.1.2? · Framer now supports texture mapping and reflections. Textures may be applied to mats, the frame or the wall. Additionally, you can map a texture to the image itself to simulate textured paper. If that isn’t enough you can also map a reflection into the frame’s glass to simulate the room the picture frames is displayed in or the person looking at the frame. · A new “Action compiler” now warns you if you don’t have an output utility in your Action, or if you otherwise incorrectly configure an Action. This is an attempt to address some confusion about the order of tasks and the need for “output” tasks to save your results. DPU also will now warn you if you have created an illegal combination of tasks. · The Namer utility has been renamed to “Saver” to better reflect its role in DPU. · Saver’s Session Threshold now can be larger than one day. · WebGen - Fixed issue with images that did not have proper EXIF information
What’s new in release 1.2.5.3? This is a minor update. Minor updates do not extend the trial period. · Frame shadows are now rendered slightly differently to create a more pleasing effect. · When you choose the “Other” color from within the Framer, The color selector now includes 16 color suggestions chosen from your picture. · The cancel or abort button now stops an action in its tracks. Previously it did not stop immediately and there were some undesired side effects. · Utility preview now includes a wait cursor while it processes your image. · EXIF User Comment write options are now properly saved across runs of DPU.
What’s new in release 1.2.5? · There is a new utility called “Framer” to create the appearance of double matted frames around your images. You can control the size and colors of the mats, frame and walls. See the documentation for details. · There is a new utility called “Time Adjuster” to help manage dates and times of your images. See the documentation for details. · There is a new utility called “Sorter” that allows you to order your images alphabetically or chronologically before other utilities are applied. This allows you to change the aspect ratio while maintaining as much resolution as possible for printing. · Resizer also has the added ability to set the image dots per inch or print size. See the documentation for details. · Caption now supports overlaying images as well as text with arbitrary rotation. · The WebGenerator has been completely reworked. It now has two complete actions that it will perform on each image. One to generate the thumbnail and one to generate the main image. This allows you to do cool things with frames and captions while you generate your web gallery. WARNING: Do not edit the Saver utilities in the WebGenerator action unless you are an advanced user. · Load and Save now default to the application directory instead of the last saved image directory. · Several Bugs were fixed in the MetaEditor including a problem with the User Comment field on non-EXIF images getting set to the value “ASCII” and the creation of new fields in images that did not already have them. · Numerous metadata editing bugs have been fixed. Things are much better now if you are trying to add metadata to scanned slides or other non-exif images. |
